“I was craving a desire to create a more surreal world with my vessel shapes. Almost as if one of the finned Piccolos was submerged in water and to mimic the way sunlight is refracted on the surface and distorts the object underneath.” — Jeremy Anderson.
Jeremy Anderson (b. 1975, Minneapolis, MN), an artist working in the ceramics medium. He has worked with clay for over 20 years. His sculptural vessels, which he calls Piccolos, are anthropomorphic creatures hand assembled from wheel thrown elements. Anderson creates in introspection that is steeped in fantasy. The forms rise organically from the clay, built from the ground up allowing each character to grow. He co-founded Apparatus in 2012, known for its lighting and furniture. Anderson is based between Rhinebeck, NY and NYC.
